Flight Delay Compensation Calculator: How Much Are You Owed?

Wondering how much compensation you're owed for a flight delay? Here's a quick way to calculate it.

Step 1: Was Your Flight Covered?

Your flight is covered by EU 261 if:

  • ✅ It departed from any EU/EEA airport, OR
  • ✅ It arrived in the EU/EEA and was operated by an EU-based airline

Step 2: How Long Was the Delay?

You're entitled to compensation if you arrived at your final destination 3 or more hours late.

Step 3: Calculate the Distance

| Your Flight Distance | Your Compensation | |---------------------|------------------| | Short-haul (under 1,500 km) | €250 per person | | Medium-haul (1,500–3,500 km) | €400 per person | | Long-haul (over 3,500 km) | €600 per person |

Quick Examples

| Route | Distance | Compensation | |-------|----------|-------------| | London → Paris | 340 km | €250 | | Oslo → Barcelona | 2,400 km | €400 | | Berlin → New York | 6,400 km | €600 | | Warsaw → Rome | 1,320 km | €250 | | Amsterdam → Dubai | 5,150 km | €600 |

Family of 4? Multiply!

The compensation is per passenger. So a family of 4 on a delayed long-haul flight could receive €2,400 (4 × €600).
